[Tutorial] Ventrilo - outdated
follow these few easy steps if you wish to physically speak with other guild members over our very own Ventrilo server!
First, you will need to download the client. this can be done by clicking the following link:
http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php Next, click the client program that's ment for your PC.
After you have Downloaded and Installed Ventrilo, open up the program.
The first thing you want to do, is find the box that says "User Name", then click the 2nd arrow beside it that looks like "->". After clicking the arrow, click "New", then put in your username that you will be known by. *please use a name people will recognize u with*. After you put in your name, you are done with this part. So click "Ok".
The next thing you want to do, is find where it says "Server". again, click the 2nd arrow beside it that looks like "->". While in here, click "New", and put in a name you would like to have our vent server known by (i suggest something like "SGCSN").
Next but very important step, where it says
"Hostname or IP": V18.DARKSTARLLC.COM
"Port number": 24973
After this, you are done with this section.
You are officially done setting the information up! Now, just click "connect", and enjoy chatting with your guildies! (warning: jackk has a VERY funny voice ).
Now, to set up some important options:
They should look something like:
Hotkey: it is there to press it when you want to talk. If you leave it like default( no button) others will hear everything what is happening at you, and that is really difficult to listen whole time, so i STRONGLY SUGGEST you to enable it. For me its left Ctrl
Amplifiers: If someone tells you you are too loud for example, you can simply lower "Outbound", and if others cant hear you, just raise your "Inbound"
if this shows up,
just ignore it
Use Direct Sound: enable it for some user options later
how to configure user settings:
If someone else is too quiet and you cant hear that particular user, or someone is too loud to understand him, do this:
1. Right-click on user -> miscellaneous -> special effects
2. Chose "volume" and ADD it
3. You can now raise or lower loudness for that user, if you cant hear him good, raise it, if he is too loud, lower it
there, everything is explained
